Woohoo! I've had my first request for the use of one of my pictures via Getty Images. This is encouraging news. The picture in question was taken a uShaka Marine World in Durban.

Durban At Night
Early in 2010 I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go to the top of three of the tallest buildings in Durban to take photographs. The views from 30+ floors up showed what a pretty city Durban really is.
The Moses Mabhida stadium as viewed from the Old Mutual building on the corner of West & Gardiner streets.

From the same position, full moon rising over Durban.

And again from the Old Mutual building, zoomed in on the moonlit ocean.

From the other side of the building, the Twirly Whirly building in Field Street.

The N3 highway snaking towards town taken from Durban Bay House.

Addington Childrens Hospital
Addington Childrens Hospital has been sitting deserted on the Durban Beachfront for a number of years now. Last year some fellow photographers and myself went in to the derelict building with our cameras to see what it looked like inside.
The hospital as it looked in 2009. I think a fence or wall has been put up since so this picture isn't so easy to get now.

This is typical of the condition of the building inside.

There are some quite interesting art built in to the building. Their are stain glassed windows in some places.

In a central courtyard there is this statue/water feature.

There are also colourful murals painted on the walls.

Discarded toys litter the corridors.

Who knows if there is a light at the end of the tunnel for this fascinating old building?

Durban A1 Grand Prix 2006-08 - Part 3
People sometimes say that the reason motor sport doesn't reach a bigger audience is because you can't see the emotion on the drivers faces. The only time you really are guaranteed to see a drivers face is if he finishes in the top three and is then on the podium and in the drivers interviews after the race.
Having access to the pit lane allowed me a fascinating insight to what goes on behind the scenes at a major motor sport event and gave me the opportunity to unmask some of the drivers.
Nico Hulkenberg who is now a Formula One driver for the Williams team sits in the Team Germany car on the morning before qualifying

Alex Yoong, a former F1 pilot, who drove for the Team Malaysia team in A1 GP.

Alvaro Parente, the Portuguese team driver has a moment of contemplation in the garage.

South Africa's Adrian Zaugg tries to find some shade away from the bustle on the grid before the race start.

Jerome Bleekmolen the driver for Team Netherlands strides down the pit lane after a practice session.

Recent Posts From My Flickr Friends
A small selection of recently uploaded pics by my contacts on Flickr.
Andy Goodman is a fantastic wildlife photographer from here in Durban. This is a lovely portrait of a Cheetah.

Looks like it's been a good week for wildlife photographers around the world Jeannie Bespoyasny has always impressed me with her bird photography. This Great Blue Heron is a prime example.

This picture was taken with a Braun Paxette Super llB by a contact I only know as fulvue. He shoots a lot of his work with vintage analogue cameras.

I do enjoy food photography. Harvey-Harv is a bit of a specialist in this Genre.

The Library Of Congress are happily sharing their archives on Flickr. The following picture is titled Portrait of Snub Mosley, William P. Gottlieb's office, New York, N.Y., between 1946 and 1948.

Nikon D300 In-Camera Multiple Exposures
One of the features I haven't used much on my Nikon D300 is the function to do multiple exposures in-camera. I know lots of people do this now in Photoshop but for me it's far more exciting to experiment by actually taking the pictures and seeing how they come out. The sample below were taken at Mitchell Park in Durban a couple of weeks back. There are images composed to two, three and five exposures amongst them.
