The Point Of Durban
While on my leave last week I took a walk around the fairly new developments in the Point area.
In my mind this is the line between Addington and the Point
Part of the man-made canal with some of the renovated old Point buildings in the background
Looking back along the canal towards uShaka
The whole area always seems to be virtually deserted despite many spanking new apartment blocks
There is still a fair amount of undeveloped land and the derelict shells of old buildings
There are many reminders about of how the area once was like

Two Walks Along The Beachfront
During my leave I took two separate walks along the Durban Beachfront. On Tuesday I did North Beach from the Casino up to West Street and on Thursday I started at West Street and reached uShaka.
A refreshments kiosk opposite Natal Command.
Look at all those satellite dishes on the roof of the building in the distance!
Debonairs and a few other food outlets.
A couple of beachfront apartment blocks. The silvery Hilton Hotel can be seen in the distance.
A few of the major hotels.
One of the many empty commercial premises along the Golden Mile.
One end of Smith Street to the other!
The Wheel Shopping Centre which quite obviously is not called the Wheel any longer.
Some attractive old apartment blocks.
Recycling Station

Adington Hospital, one of the landmarks along the beachfront.

A Walk Up West Street
On Monday,my first day of leave, I decided to do something I've been wanting to do for a while. That is, walk and photograph the complete length of West Street in Durban. Not wanting to be too conspicuous, I just took my cellphone for picture taking purposes. In the end I went from the beachfront to Broad Street and back.
The Beach Hotel just adjacent to the start of West Street.
People queuing for something or other. I couldn't work out which end was which?
One of the many car dealerships.
